ASO impounds 4 non-duty vehicles

LAHORE: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) impounded four non-duty paid vehicles worth millions of rupees from various places in Lahore.

As per the details, the ASO team led by Superintendent Waqar Ahmad Cheema and under the supervision of Deputy Collector Asim Awan conducted raids and intercepted the vehicles during general hold-up.

The team comprising, Deputy Superintendent Mazhar Bhutter, Inspector Sajad Bukhari and others carried out the operations and impounded the vehicles, including Toyota Coaster, Intercooler Pajero, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Vitz.

The ASO team impounded the Coaster bearing Registration No LRT-8877 model 2002 worth Rs 4 million from Multan Road after the driver of the vehicle failed to produce documents regarding legal import of the vehicle. It is learnt that the vehicle wsa in use of Haji Sohail for more than six years and nobody intercepted it.

In another raid, the ASO team intercepted an Intercooler Pajero bearing Registration No LEC-11-654 near Moon Market, Lahore which was being driven by one, Waqar Khan. The team asked the person to show documents regarding legal import, but he could not produce the same. The officials impounded the vehicle worth Rs 1.4 million under customs law.

The ASO also impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Vitz model 2002 near Wapda Town being played by one Attiq. The value of the vehicle has been estimated at Rs 600,000. The officials also impounded another vehicle, Toyota Corolla. The customs authorities registering cases have initiated further investigation against the suspects.
