ANF arrests 36 drug suppliers to academic institutions; seizes 15.32kg drugs

RAWALPINDI: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested 36 drug peddlers who were allegedly supplying drugs to academic institutions and recovered 15.32 kilograms drugs from their possession.

The ANF, on the directive of Director General ANF Major General Nasir Dilawar Shah, launched a special anti drug drive with special focus on Educational Institutions and youth.

According to ANF headquarters, in recent past, the force conducted 32 operations and arrested 36 drug suppliers and recovered 15.32 kg drugs.

The operations were carried out at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Mianwali, Jhelum, Layyah, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Peshawar, Mansehra, Hyderabad and Karachi. ANF Rawalpindi conducted nine operations and arrested 12 drug peddlers along with recovery of 3.2 kg drugs.

ANF Lahore in pursuance of the campaign against drug peddlers involved in supply of drugs to Educational Institutions carried out 16 operations and arrested 16 with 4.38 kg drugs recovery.

ANF Peshawar apprehended three drug peddlers including a female and recovered five kg hashish and 15 grams heroin.

ANF Karachi in pursuance of the campaign against drug peddlers involved in supply of drugs in Educational Institutions carried out five operations and arrested five accused and recovered 2.75kg drugs.

Two such campaigns were also launched in April and June/July this year in which 205 drug suppliers were sent behind the bars and 1386.19kg drugs were recovered.

All the cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations while further investigations are in process.
