Faisalabad ASO seizes goods worth Rs 2.7 million

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized smuggled goods and a vehicle worth Rs 2.787 million during third week of November 2016.

According to reports, Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan foiled various smuggling bids in the region. The ASO team consisted of Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, Sepoys Liaqat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah conducted raids and seized the goods under Customs Act, 1969.

The Faisalabad ASO registered more than 3 seizure cases during anti-smuggling activities in this period. It impounded a vehicle under Section 157 worth Rs 500,000, another non-duty paid vehicle under Section 16 worth Rs 1.5 million and miscellaneous items worth Rs 787,500 during the said period.

The Faisalabad ASO seized these items on violation of Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89(i) and 90 of the Customs Act, 1969 and forward the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action.
