SIALKOT: Additional Collector of Model Customs Collectorate Sialkot Faiz Ali has said that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has accelerated operations against smugglers.
Faiz Ali said that the ASO teams impounded two non-duty paid vehicles, a huge quantity of cumin and Indian origin cloth, 200 mobile phones, toys and other items from October 20 to November 20 worth Rs 6 millions.
He said that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has strictly instructed to all customs collectors to adopt comprehensive strategies to curb smuggling in the country. He said that the government is trying to get rid of this menace. The performance of ASO teams, which are patrolling on Wazirabad, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad Mandi Bahauddin Aimanabad, Gujrat Sialkot and Airport roads, is getting better result day by day.
He added that he directed the ASO teams to check all vehicles thoroughly and not to spare anyone who found involved in smuggling. Customs sources told Customs Today that the co-operation of police, Rangers and other agencies is very helpful to curb smuggling from the country and FBR is taking keen interest to eliminate the smuggling.
Additional collector said that the public should cooperate with ASO to curb smuggling because it is also include in the duty of public as good citizen of Pakistan. He said that Collector Ahmed Reza Khan is also taking keen interest to curb smuggling rather he is fully cooperating and facilitating ASO teams for this purpose. Faiz Alli said that the ASO Incharge Assistant Collector Choudhary Fahad Bashir is good officer and he has good command on ASO. He said that if the Incharge will strict and honest then team will perform duty much better to curb smuggling.
