Rs 28m ‘water tax’ recovered from growers of Multan division

MULTAN: The Irrigation Department has recovered Rs 28 million water tax (Abiana) from growers of Multan division during Rabbi-season 2015-16.

According to the official sources, various teams had recovered Rs 4.5 million Abiana from Multan district, Rs 170,839 from Lodhran, Rs 16 million from Vehari and Rs 7.5 million from Pakpattan district during first three months of Rbbi-season from July 1 to Oct 31, 2016.

Similarly, Rs 859,724 water charges (Tawan) were also recovered from four districts including Rs 742,145 from Ldhran, Rs 73,600 from Vehari, Rs 43,979 from Pakpattan, sources added.
