HONG KONG: Earlier this month, The Country Caller reported that Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) Global Sales and Service President, Jon McNeil, went to Hong Kong to convince the city’s lawmakers to extend the existing tax break on electric cars. However, the government has not yet agreed to keep the incentive alive. Therefore, Electrek reported that the company started a new marketing campaign in Hong Kong to boost its sales before the tax break ends.

The company sent an email to all its Tesla owners and fans in the city last week, announcing new marketing events such as “Tesla Cars and Coffee,” “Tesla Night Drive,” and “Enjoy the Benefits of Owning a Model S.” Tesla’s Event page on its Hong Kong website shows eight events which are either ongoing or upcoming in November and December.

Moreover, the automaker warned about the removal of the existing tax break on EVs, a waiver on the First Registration Tax aimed to promote battery-powered vehicles, delivered after March 31, 2017. It advised vehicle owners and fans to order a Model S/Model X before December 31, 2016 to take advantage of the incentive.

The email suggests that this is one of the several limited-time offers. Other advantage of ordering vehicles before the end of this year include free lifetime Supercharging, free 1st year annual service with Tesla Value Loan Program (TVLP), trade-in discounts, insurance rewards, and a referral program.

We already know that Tesla customers wgo order vehicles after December 31 would be allotted annual credits for using the Supercharger instead of the optional unlimited usage. Tesla provides free first-year annual Service Package priced at HK$3,000.

It gives customers HK$10,000 credits for trading-in a gasoline car for a new Model S and this offer is valid till November 30, 2016. Customers trading-in vehicles between December 1-16 would be eligible for HK$8,000 credits.

Earlier this year, Tesla announced “InsureMyTesla” program which would enable customers to save up to HK$10,000 if they take their delivery before the end of this year. Lastly, customers ordering a Model S before 15 January, 2016 using a referral link would be given a discount of HK$8,800. These incentives are surely going to provide a boost to Tesla sales in the current and the next quarter.
