Customs Intelligence recovers non-customs paid iron, tyres, cloth, soap from bus

LAHORE: A tem of Directorate Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated non-customs tyres, soaps, foreign made cloth and irons worth millions of rupees, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that on the information of Director Zeba Hai Azhar, the anti-smuggling team led by Superintendent Yasin Malik under the supervision Ali Zeb Khan intercepted a bus bearing registration no. LWC/9271 coming from Peshawar.

The sources said that the customs authorities after intercepting the bus recovered 150 tyres, 150 cartons soaps made in Germany, 1,000 meter cloth, 100 Panasonic and other illegally imported items.  The sources said that the total value of the bus has been estimated at Rs 6 million. The sources said that all seized goods were said to be dumped in Lahore markets by one Tawab, who belonged to KPK.  It was said that the all non-customs paid items and tyres were hidden in vegetable and fruits boxes.

The sources said that all the non-customs paid items and tyres have been confiscated and were brought to the directorate Warehouse located in Aurangzeb Block Allama Iqbal Town. The sources said that Customs I&I authorities after registering a case have initiated further investigations.

Sources said that Customs Intelligence team timely action has save the national exchequer of millions of rupees loss. Had the bus loaded with non-customs items and tyres, the local business would have been badly impacted.

The sources added that since the new Director Zeba Hai has taken charge of the directorate anti-smuggling operations have been speed up under the limits of Customs I&I Lahore.
