Rise in Belarusian softwood lumber exports

WASHINGTON: Belarusian exports of softwood lumber increased by 31% in the first nine months of 2016 vis à vis the comparative period last year to 1.039m m³. According to information from Belstat of this volume 982,000m³ was delivered to EU countries, corresponding to an increase of 39%.

Exports to Germany, the most important sales market for Belarusian exporters by far, increased by 26% to 277,000m³. Exports to Lithuania and Latvia increased by 43% to 197,000m³ and 51% to 177,000m³ respectively. At 79,000m³, deliveries to Belgium were 17% above the figure of the previous year. Exports to CIS states, in contrast, fell by a third to 50,000m³. The value of exported softwood lumber increased by 22% to an equivalent of US$116.2m.
