ANF seizes 236kg drugs worth Rs782m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 236kg drugs worth Rs 782 million in 21 countrywide raids.

The seized drugs include 53kg heroin, 180kg morphine, 77kg opium, 26kg hashish and 1.2kg amphetamine. The operations also resulted in arrest of 25 persons involved in drug smuggling to students and confiscated 5 vehicles.

According to details, ANF Quetta seized 180kg morphine while carrying out an intelligence led operation at Chagi. Morphine was concealed in a deserted house located in Maskhel area of District Chaghi. As per reports, drug was to be handed over to some other narcotics gang for smuggling to some unidentified location.

In another intelligence led operation, ANF Quetta intercepted a truck near Nalient, Coastal Highway, Gwadar and recovered 20kg opium concealed inside the truck. An accused on board namely Karim Bux resident of Gawadar was also arrested during the operation.

Yet in another intelligence led operation, ANF Quetta seized an unattended single cabin pick-up (without registration number) at Hoshab Road, Kech, search of the vehicle led to seizure of 30kg heroin concealed inside the vehicle.

ANF Rawalpindi raided near Nafees Chowk, Attock and recovered 500 gram hashish from two drug peddlers, namely Khalid Mehmood and Noman Mukhtar, residents of Attock.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi during routine road checking near Chungi No.a 26, GT Road, Islamabad intercepted a Suzuki Khyber and recovered 5kg hashish concealed in it. An accused namely Noor Khan, resident of Khyber Agency, was arrested on the spot. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi apprehended a person identified as Muhammad Asif resident of Toba Tek Singh along with 1.5kg hashish at bus stop, Chungi No 26.

In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a parcel containing a decoration piece made up of wood at PIA Cargo, Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and seized 500 gram heroin concealed in it. The parcel was destined for the UK. In fifth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler, namely Kifayat Ali along with 140 gram hashish who was arrested near Old Suzuki Stand, Daniore, Gilgit.

In sixth operation, ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of information seized an unattended bag containing 20kg heroin from parking of Daewoo Bus Terminal, Rawalpindi. In seventh operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Suzuki Cultus Car at bus stop, Chungi No. 26, GT Road, Islamabad and recovered 2kg hashish concealed in it. Two drug carriers, identified as Zarshad, resident of Peshawar and Farid Khan, resident of Khyber Agency were also arrested on the spot.

In eighth operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 2kg hashish from possession of an accused, namely Anwar Ali, resident of Gujranwala at Wood Plywood Industries, Main GT Road, Islamabad. In ninth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a female drug carrier, identified as Laila, resident of Peshawar and recovered 2kg heroin concealed in her luggage. She was arrested near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza, near GT Road Attock while travelling in a passenger van.
