Customs needs to reap benefits of trade through CPEC: Member Customs Nasir Masroor

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has envisioned making Pakistan a trade and transit hub for South and Central Asia and the Pakistan Customs must be prepared for the challenge.

These views were expressed by Member Customs Nasir Masroor Ahmad on the completion of 5-day professional capacity building on Customs Clearance procedures, WeBOC and trade facilitation the other day.

He added that in collaboration with China, Pakistan has embarked on the CPEC project which will not only bring economic prosperity to the region but also further strengthening friendship bonds with China.

He said that in today’s world, trade has been rationalized and our ability to import and export cargo quickly and efficiently must constantly catch up to the volume.

The Member Customs said that the changing nature of global production , with growing trade in immediate goods and inputs, under core the importance of having efficient customs clearance system besides  a good  understanding of the processes  so as to become an effective and competitive partner in global supply chain.

Hence, capacity building of stakeholders is equally important to maximum benefits from this huge opportunity, the member customs stated.
