Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 2.35m in last week November

FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled goods worth Rs 2,350,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 980,000 besides impounding offender vehicles worth Rs 1400,000 in different anti smuggling activities during the third week of November 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that the Customs Intelligence team conducted various operations on the instruction of Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain against the smuggled goods and vehicles in different areas of its jurisdiction, including Sargodha, Khushab and Faisalabad.

The teams confiscated smuggled goods including foreign origin used computer worth Rs 6,247,207 involving customs duty Rs 873,320. Iranian origin glass ware (4808 kgs), Iranian origin plastic ware (1215-kgs), Rs 1,585,000 involving customs duty and taxes Rs852,000. The intelligence team recovers makeup kits and eyes shadow made in China Rs 2,598,635 involving duty and taxes Rs 1990037.

Furthermore, the Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab seizes foreign origin almonds (without shell) 290 bags worth Rs 2,350,000 involved custom duty Rs 980,000. The accused persons could not produce documents regarding the legal import of the items.

The seizure cases have been referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions.
