PARIS: According to a statement by the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters Union (OIB), exports to the sector’s top three markets, Germany, Italy and France have increased in double digits as high as 65 percent in November. A 51 percent increase in passenger car exports marked the sector’s successful performance.
After reaching an eight-year high in monthly exports in October, Turkey’s automotive industry renewed this record in November when exports increased by 16.9 percent, standing at $2.2 billion in November. While the sector’s share in total exports made up 18.7 percent, automotive exports also reached $21.530 billion, increasing by 11.5 percent in the 11-month period from January to November.
According to the OIB’s November report, the export of passenger cars soared to $952 million, a 51 percent increase, while the sub-industry hit $745 million with a 1 percent increase. Bus-minibus exports, on the other hand, showed an 11 percent increase totaling to $132 million, followed by motor vehicles for goods transport with $389 million, decreasing by 5 percent.
