Contraband items set ablaze by Customs Collectorate Port Qasim

KARACHI: Colletorate of Customs Port Qasim held a ceremony on Tuesday to destroy the seized/confiscated liquor 6850 bottles and 604 beer cans.

The occasion was witnessed by representatives of different enforcement agencies including Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (DIT), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG), Port Qasim Authority (PQA), environment authority and other distinguished guests.

According to details, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Port Qasim on the directives of Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari destroyed thousands of seized liquor bottles and beer cans which were confiscated by the ASO staff of Port Qasim since year 1997.

On the occasion, Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari stated that the Customs authorities seized those contraband items through effective surveillance on port and airport, adding that the seized items during the last 20 years were demolished at the ceremony.

Additional Collector Muhammad Tahir, Deputy Collector Muhammad Salman and other staff members of the Colletorate were also present on the occasion.
