Multan Customs Intelligence seizes laptops, computer accessories worth Rs 1.5m

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated smuggled laptops and computer accessories worth Rs 1.5 million during a raid at the Multan Railways Station.

According to details, the Customs Intelligence received reliable information from its source that smuggled computer accessories and laptops would be smuggled through a train.

Superintendent Zahid Bukhari formed special team comprising Inspector Malik Muhammad Nasir, Amjad Pervaiz and others for thwarting smuggling attempt at the railways station. The team raided the Jaffer Express, which was coming from Quetta to Multan.

The officials checked the train and recovered 26 new laptops, 100 hard disks of computer system, i3 computer system and other accessories. The recovered goods were packed in cartons and booked on the name of consignor, Fazal Abbas.

The Customs Intelligence team has taken the laptops and other goods in their custody for their verification. During the verification of recovered goods from Railway Cargo Office Multan, the Customs Intelligence found that the said goods were booked on fake name for delivery purposes.

Therefore, the department seized the recovered goods after verification under Customs Act, 1969 and formed seizure report of the captured items. The market value of the seized goods has been estimated at Rs 1.5 million.
