IMO Islamabad seizes 1.4kg heroin during first 5 month of FY16-17

ISLAMABAD: The Customs International Mail Office (IMO) in Islamabad claimed to have seized 1.4 kilogrammes of heroin during the first five months (from July to November) of the current fiscal year. The estimated value of the drug is Rs 14 million in the international market.

Assistant Collector Sadia Usman told Customs Today that during the period, the IMO seized many illegal consignments from Islamabad, arrested the carriers and registered cases against them.

She said that the office seized the first consignment of 230 grammes which was booked for Lancashire-United Kingdom from Swabi. The consignment was stitched inside the lining of children’s jackets.

Sadia said that the second consignment of 210 grams of heroin was booked from Nowshera, to Miramar, USA. The consignment was concealed inside the cavities made in the hard binding of a book.

She said that the IMO seized third consignment of 500 grams of heroin it was booked from Mirpur-Dadyal Azad Kashmir for Birmingham England. The consignment was concealed inside lining of the bag.

She said that the forth consignment of 260 gram heroin was booked for the University of Northampton UK from Gujar Khan to, adding that the consignment was concealed inside the binding of books.

The assistant collector said that during five  months of the financial year 2016-17, the IMO seized fifth case of 200 grams heroin. It was booked for New York from Islamabad and was concealed inside the cards.
