Sialkot ASO recovers huge quantity of non duty paid Iranian dates

SIALKOT: Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Customs Collectorate Sailkot has recovered huge quantity of smuggled Iranian dry dates worth Rs.100.000 from a van during vehicles checking on Sambrial Road.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir and Superintendent Sardar Manzoor constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Aamir who established different check posts to curb smuggling attempts.

The above mentioned inspector along with his team members started checking of vehicles on Sambrial Road. The team intercepted a van which was coming from Rawalpindi and heading towards Sialkot. The team checked the van bearing RIP-210-07 and recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid Iranian dry dates. The team asked driver about legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these dates, however the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Khalil was failed to produce any relevant documents. He also told ASO team that Iranian dry dates were loaded from Rawalpindi whereas the bus stand management has not handed over any documents of these Iranian dry dates.

However the team released driver after initial interrogations and seized all the Iranian dry dates to Warehouse of Customs Collectorate Sialkot. Sources said that ASO team after registering a case started investigations.
