Faisalabad ASO seizes items worth Rs7.4m in first week of December

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has conducted various operations against smugglers after receiving special instructions by Additional Deputy Collector Saeed Asad and recovered smuggled goods worth Rs 7,492,600 during the first week of December-2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan constituted a team to curb smuggling attempts in the region. The ASO team consisted of Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Ali Zahid, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Inspector Khalid Dogar and sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah impounded two non-duty paid and tempered vehicles worth Rs 6,50,000 under section (U/S 16 NDP).

These vehicles were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

Sources said that ASO authorities also recovered foreign origin cloth (300 kilograms) worth Rs 192600 and confiscated miscellaneous smuggled items (14756 kilograms) worth Rs8,00,000 during the said period.

Faisalabad ASO seized all smuggled items under Import and Export Control Act. 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action.
