MOSCOW: Russia may begin wheat deliveries to Venezuela in early 2017, said RosSelkhozNadzor following the results of Russian-Venezuelan talks. “Taking into account the strong interest of Venezuela in Russian wheat, its exports to the country may start as soon as early 2017 provided technical aspects are rapidly approved and this agreement is signed by authorized agencies of both nations,” RosSelkhozNadzor reports. Previously, Vladimir Volik, Director of the Ag Ministry’s department of agri-markets regulation, said Russia would build up grain deliveries to Latin America. “We’ll build up deliveries to African markets and Latin America. Last season (2015/16), Russia supplied 389 KMT of wheat to Mexico, i.e. the nearest neighbor of the largest grain exporter – the U.S. We are interested in Brazil’s market as well,” he said.
Additionally, Russia supplied 155.8 KMT of wheat to the Mexican market from July through October 2016/17.
