Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled goods worth Rs60.02m in first 12 days of December

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Federal Board of Revenue has seized and impound  miscellaneous goods including non duty  paid smuggled and offending vehicles, foreign origin cloth, diesel, tyres tubes and other different things total amounting to Rs60.02 million in country wide operation against smuggling from 1st to 12th December 2016.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence Abdul Waheed Marwat told Customs Today that we are working on new strategy against smuggling and hope this may be launch from 1st January 2017.

New strategy will prove helpful and effective to control illegal trade and smuggling. He said that during the first 12 days of current month (December) we impound t11 non duty paid cars worth Rs16.8 million under the section 16 of the Customs Act and seized the eight offending vehicles, which was being used in smuggling activities worth Rs15.55 million under section 157 of Customs Act.

He said that Customs Intelligence authorities also seized 1,17,760 liters of Iranian diesel worth Rs7 million and 122 numbers of non duty paid tyres and tubes worth Rs0.35 million.

Customs I&I has also seized the huge quantity of foreign Origin cloth 14,260,yards worth 6.7 million during the 12 days and the miscellaneous things perfumes ,deodorant etc worth Rs13.6 million.
