DGTR initiates specialized training programme for newly recruited customs sepoys

LAHORE: It was a significant event in the history of Pakistan Customs, when as many as 113 newly recruited sepoys from multiple directorates and collectorates of the Customs Central Region joined the two months specialized training programme at Lahore.

The training was arranged by Directorate General of Training and Research, Lahore in collaboration with the Civil Defence Training School. It is exclusively designed for the customs sepoys by DGTR (Customs) Karachi and is duly approved by the board. The sepoys will be taught customs law, rules, procedures etc. in addition to other relevant modules.

An opening ceremony of the training took place at Civil Defence Training School, Lahore on December 14, 2016. Chief Collector Sumaira Nazir, was the chief guest, while Appeals Collector Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, Appraisement Collector Mohammad Sadiq, Preventive Collector Zulfiqar Younas, Commandant Civil Defence Training School Liaquat Ali Malik and Bomb Disposal Unit Additional Unit Commandant Captain (R) Rai Nazir Ahmad Kharal were special guests on the occasion. DGTR Deputy Director Kanwal Ali opened the ceremony, which was followed by an address from DGTR Director Saima Shahzad.

Chief Collector Samaira Nazir, during her address also congratulated the newly recruited sepoys on joining the customs services and appreciated the DGTR officials for being the first regional office to start the training programme.

Collector Asif Mahmood Jah urged the sepoys to inculcate a sense of patriotism and love for humanity in themselves. Collector Zulfiqar Younis advised the sepoys to take the training very seriously and work with utmost diligence and dedication. Liaquat Ali Malik also assured his full support during the course of the training programme. The newly recruited sepoys also showed a parade to the guests. The ceremony ended with a note of thanks to the chair followed by a group photo.
