KARACHI: As many as 35 companies have showed their interest in Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s bid for the transit trade vehicles’ contract for 2017.

The FBR’s Directorate General of Transit Trade will award the contract to one potential bidder after careful evaluation in three different phases of selection process.

In the first phase, at least five companies, which would meet terms and conditions of the department, will be short listed. The selected companies will be scrutinised in the second phase and cut the list to three. In the third phase, the profile of the company, capacity, manpower, skills, assets as well as the details of past contact will be examined to award the contract on merit.

Currently, TPL Trakker Limited is the official contractor, who tracks the transit trade vehicles for FBR. The company has already secured the tracking agreement twice during the last two years and is a strong candidate this year as well.

Now, another bidder, National Logistic Cell is likely to give hard competition to the TPL for acquiring the tracking contract for the transit vehicles.

The FBR has already instructed the DG Transit Trade to ensure transparency and check bank guarantees of the company before awarding the contract.
