FAISALABAD: The Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) Faisalabad has lodged an FIR against Muhammad Bilal son of Ghulam Murtaza resident of mohallah Afghanabad Faisalabad holding passport no. AB370324 having CNIC No, 33100-9102732-3 who is involved in mobile smuggling.
According to details, Assistant Collector Idrees Qureshi received information that huge quantity of foreign origin mobile phones and liqour being brought into country from UAE.
The AFU team deputed at Faisalabad International Airport enhanced checking measures and intercepted a passenger Muhammad Bilal who was coming from FIA counter side into the arrival hall for exit. He was carrying three shopping bags and two hand bags. On inquiry the passenger disclosed that there is nothing objectionable with him.
The AFU team expressed dissatisfaction and they took the passenger bags into custody and recovered 66 pieces of foreign origin mobiles phones of different brands and models and 6 bottles of liqour in the presence of said passenger and two witness.
AFU team asked the accused persons to show legal documents and invoices of mobile phones and liqour bottles but accused person failed to show any relevant documents. After their failure Customs AFU team seized the mobiles. Assistant Collector Idrees Qureshi lodged an FIR against nominated accused person under section 161 of the Custom Act 1969. Further process is still underway till the filing of this report.
