CPEC to play important role in eliminating terrorism: CM

LAHORE: Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was a vital project of progress and prosperity of Pakistan and was a game changer.

He said that completion of this project would not only change the destiny of Pakistan but the whole region would also got benefit from it. He said that development projects under CPEC were being completed expeditiously throughout the country.

The CM said that China was making historic investment of 46 billion dollars in Pakistan and this investment would not be limited to this amount only but more investment would also be made.

Shehbaz Sharif said that CPEC had opened the doors of foreign investment in Pakistan and Chinese investment of billions of rupees was also creating a large number of job opportunities.He said that CPEC would also play an important role in eliminating terrorism and extremism from the region as well as poverty alleviation. He was talking to a delegation of Muslim league-N.

The Chief Minister said that under CPEC, energy projects were being completed speedily throughout the country. He said that the under-construction 1320 megawatts coal power plant in Sahiwal would be completed much before the stipulated period and would start production by the beginning of next year.He said that coal power plants of 1320 megawatts were usually completed in four to five years.

He said that speed of work on Sahiwal Coal Power Plant was unprecedented. He said that Sahiwal Coal Power Plant was an example with regard to production, speed and standard and would be a masterpiece of Pak-China friendship.

Shehbaz Sharif said that people of Pakistan wanted progress, prosperity and peace. He said that the elements engaged in the politics of chaos, anarchy and sit-ins had no concern with the problems of the people and only wanted to achieve their selfish agenda. He said that these elements had set aside national interests for achieving their personal ends.

He said that Dharna Group was isolated in political arena due to its negative politics. He said that speedy and transparent completion of public welfare projects was a cause of concern for defeated elements.

The Chief Minster said that development projects including power projects were being completed expeditiously throughout the country and their implementation would remove load-shedding and bring about prosperity. He said that rejected political elements had done nothing except politics of chaos and allegations during the last three and a half years and were afraid that completion of energy and other development projects would put an end to their politics.

He said that those who had been involved in negative politics would be rejected by the people in future as well. He said that the conscious people of Pakistan would ensure success of politics of honesty, trust and transparency in general elections of 2018 and those engaged in the politics of allegations, lies and chaos would gain nothing.
