Sargodha ASO seizes 800 kg cumin seeds worth Rs700,000

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha has confiscated 800 kilogram cumin seeds worth Rs700,000 involving in customs duty Rs126,112.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received information regarding a smuggling bid. On this he formed a team included Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Bashir Ahmed, Hafiz Nasir Ahmad and Constable Rana Muhammad Ashrif, Muhammad Ameen, Shafqat Mehmood Muhammad iqbal and Muhammad Mansha to foil the smuggling attempt.

The ASO team raided at Truck Adda near Water Supply Road Muhammadi Colony, Sargodha and recovered foreign origin black cumin seeds 20 Bags (800 kg) in Brand 505 Patel Ambala Lalludas Qunjha Gujrat India was packed in jute bags.

The black cumin seeds are being transported from Rawalpindi to Sargodha through some private transport Co. On the direction of superintendent the team asked some person who the cumin seeds to provide legal documents of the said goods but they were failed to provide the same. Therefore the black cumin seeds was taken into customs custody and brought into customs office Sargodha for further investigation.

Furthermore, Muhammad Zia Elahi son of Inam Elahi residential Sattlite town Sargodha appeared before investigation and submitted an affidavit on non judicial stamp paper in which he claimed the ownership of the goods and also stated that he is willing to pay duty and taxes livable. However, the customs has forwarded case to adjudication after making seizure report for further legal action.
