Peshawar ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs49m during first 15 days of December

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Peshawar collected Rs49 million revenue through seizers of smuggled goods and non-duty paid vehicles during first 15 days of December financial year (FY) 2016-17.

Customs official told Customs Today that Peshawar ASO impounded 5 non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs8 million during the above said period. Sources said that the ASO made many raids, seized hug quantity of smuggled items and registered cases against them.

Sources added that during first 15 days of December the ASO Peshawar seized miscellaneous goods worth Rs41.87 million included foreign origin fabric, black tea, oil, auto parts, grease, imported cigarettes, mobile phones etc.

During first five months (July to November) FY16-17, the ASO Peshawar collected revenue worth Rs1111.649 million seized by non-duty paid vehicles, offending vehicles, smuggled goods, currency, gold and narcotics.

The ASO Peshawar’s performance during first five months of financial year 2016-17 was outstanding, the ASO seized 214 numbers of offending vehicles amounting Rs328.950 million, 111 non-duty paid vehicles amounting Rs161.750 million during said period.

Sources said that during first five months of current financial year the ASO seized cloths worth Rs294.55 million, betel nuts worth Rs1.57 million, miscellaneous type of currency amounting Rs45.357 million as for as ASO seized black tea amounting Rs30.439 million.

Sources further said that during above said period the ASO Peshawar seized tires amounting Rs8.97 million, auto parts amounting Rs19.326 million, liquor amounting Rs0.680 million, oil Rs10.166 million, grease Rs0.016 million, gold Rs17.150 million, cigarettes worth Rs30.234 million, electronic goods worth Rs14.06 million and seized antiques amounting Rs1.800 million.

Sources told that during first 5 month of FY16-17 ASO seized scrape amounting Rs4.279 million, blankets amounting Rs0.506 million, medicine amounting Rs0.504 million, pan Prag amounting Rs3.177 million gutka all brands amounting Rs2.458 million, toiletries amounting Rs2.476 million, Generators amounting Rs3.73 million, mobile phones amounting Rs42.414 million, miscellaneous goods amounting Rs71.948 million and narcotics worth Rs14.67 million.
