Gujranwala Customs Intelligence seizes Iranian clothes

SIALKOT: Gujranwala Customs Intelligence and Investigation team has seized Iranian cloth worth Rs 100,000 during vehicle checking on Grand Trunk (GT) Road.

Under special directions of Assistant Director Itrat Hussain the Superintendent Tariq Rafique constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Saad Ullah to check the vehicle under Iran Transit Trade to curb smuggling.

The said Inspector along with his team members constables Usama, Shafique, Mubashir, Boota etc started the checking of vehicles on GT Road.

During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted a van bearing registration number RIR-349-06 which was coming from Rawalpindi and going to Narowal via Sialkot. While the searching of the van the team recovered smuggled Iranian clothes worth Rs100,000.

The team asked driver Rehmat Ali about booking papers of recovered clothes he was failed to produce booking papers while he told the clothes were loaded from Bus Stand Pir Wadhai of Rawalpindi and bus stand manager knows better about booking papers.

The team confiscated the clothes and released driver with van whereas the team has challaned of driver and team issue legal notice to bus stand manager. The team shifted the confiscated cloth in the store of department and registered a case.

The team will forward case before the Adjudication court for hearing. If the court will announce judgment in the favor of Customs Intelligence then department authorize to auction clothes as per customs laws and customs Act 1969. An official of said department told that the anti-smuggling staff is in full swing whereas the department is achieving good results day by day whereas the all staff has vowed to curb smuggling from the region.
