Customs Appellate Tribunal adjourns three customs references until January

ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Customs Appellate Tribunal on Wednesday dated in the office the hearing of three customs references filed against Model Collectorate of Customs and Directorate General of Investigation and Intelligence, Islamabad.

A single bench of the tribunal comprising member, Syed Muhammad Anwar, heard the cases. The parties involved submitted supporting record before the bench and then hearing was adjourned till coming month of January.

M/s Lucky Enterprises, Haq Nawaz and Wasif Hussain had filed these cases. All of these cases had been filed during 2016. M/s Lucky Enterprises had challenged a customs duty assessment sustained by the adjudication.

Haq Nawaz and Wasif Hussain had filed cases regarding release of vehicles which were seized by customs authorities amid attempt to smuggling various items. They had filed the cases against Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Islamabad. The bench adjourned the hearing of the cases till next week.

The appellants had challenged department’s adjudication decision before the bench through the cases. The adjudication had maintained charges against the appellants during departmental hearings. Last week, the bench had adjourned the haring of said cases due to absence of the responding counsels from the tribunal.
