FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan has issued Order in Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad while deciding a case of non-duty paid Toyota Hilux surf.
Sources told to Customs Today, that a team of Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a used Toyota Hilux Surf bearing registration no. KV- 017 ICT model 1995. The owner of the vehicle, who was identified as Imran Ali son of Aniyat Ali was asked to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he remained fail to produce any import document. Therefore, the staff impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s), and 16, of the Customs Act, 1969.
Later, the ASO team sent its chassis for forensic test. The report clarified that present chassis number are not original and is tempered with. The officials forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
However, no one appeared to defend the case from respondent side but he remained failed any written reply was submitted before the Customs Adjudication. While Inspector Ali Zahid appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the seized vehicle fell under the ambit of Section 2(s) of the Customs Act, 1969.
Therefore, Additional Collector Adjudication Beelamur Ramzan has issued ONO in favour of the Customs ASO Faisalabad and ordered to impound the vehicle out rightly in terms of under Section 156(1) 89(i) of the Customs Act 1969.
