Five dry port officials plead guilty in embezzlement of Rs25.3m

FAISALABAD: The dry port management has lodged FIR at Chak Jhumra Police Station and filed a case against 5 top officers of the Faisalabad Dry Port Trust, on charge of embezzling Rs25.3 million from the dry port funds.

As per the details official said that the accused including Ex General Manager Nasar Hayat, Manager Operation, Naveed Imran, Deputy Manager Rana Nasarullah, Import Officer Tariq Saeed,and Manager I.T. Farhan Ali. The case has been registered on complaint of Colonel Amer Majeed (Retd), General Manager (Administration) Dry Port.

Source’s told Customs Today that in his complaint lodged with police under section 408 PPC it has been alleged that the accused inflicted a financial loss of Rs25.3 million. Former General Manager Nasar Hayat also took away a new car worth Rs1.9 million mobile phones and Laptop after quitting their jobs. The accused manipulated to get re-employment of the dry port in 2015 with the help of some influential trustees of the dry port.

According to Nazir Ahmad Chishti, Secretary Dry Port Trust Four of its Employees, Naveed Imran, Rana Nasarullah, Tariq Saeed and Farhan Ahmad left their job without any intimation to the management and they including General Manager, Nasar Hayat, were forcibly retired by the dry port management.

The misappropriation of the dry port highlighted when audit firm accompanied with Internal Manager Audit Muhammad Irfan, conducted a comprehensive audit of the dry port.

Sources further said that the police station still did not conducted any raid to arrest the accused case but the management was confident to arrest them very soon.
