ICCI lauds CDA for resolving longstanding issues of business community

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Khalid Iqbal Malik has lauded the efforts of Mayor Islamabad Municipal Committee (IMC) and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz for resolving the two longstanding issues of business community viz. lease renewal of commercial plots and construction of additional storey in Marakaz and hoped that he would address other key issues of trade and industry with similar positive spirit.

He said lease renewal of many commercial plots in Islamabad was pending for many years due to some reasons causing great difficulty for business community. Similarly traders have been demanding for construction of additional storey in Marakaz to meet the current day business requirement, but these two issues remained unaddressed for years. However, CDA Chairman in its recent meeting with ICCI delegation has agreed in principle to resolve these issues after fulfilling necessary legal requirements which was a very positive development. He also congratulated the business community for this great achievement.

Khalid Iqbal Malik said that after assuming charge of Chairman CDA by Sheikh Anser Aziz, ICCI delegation led by him held many meetings with the civic body for the resolution of these two important issues and in every meeting the response of Chairman CDA was very positive. He said now the Chairman CDA has agreed in principal to allow renewal of pending leases of commercial plots and construction of additional storey in Marakaz for which the whole business community of the region is thankful to him.

He said CDA Chairman has constituted a Committee to revise and upgrade CDA byelaws that would pave way for renewal of pending leases and construction of additional storey in Marakaz. He hoped that Chairman CDA would also address other key issues of business community with same positive approach so that trade and industrial activities could flourish smoothly in the region that would contribute positively towards creating new jobs, reducing poverty & unemployment, improving tax revenue and strengthening the regional economy.
