LAHORE: Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said additional funds would be given to the local governments showing good performance in education, public health and other sectors for their encouragement.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting held to review recommendations with regard to distribution of resources among provincial governments through Provincial Finance Commission.
The chief minister said development of south Punjab and backward districts was among priorities of the government. He directed to give preference to backward districts especially south Punjab in the distribution of funds. He said besides financial autonomy for timely and transparent utilization of resources for public welfare, capacity-building of local bodies’ institutions was also necessary. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Manshaulla Butt, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Hamza Shehbaz and concerned officials attended the meeting.
