LAHORE: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Lahore has seized 37 cartons of foreign made non-customs paid cigarettes of superior quality worth millions of rupees.
Sources told Customs Today that the Customs authorities intercepted a bus on the outskirts of the city and recovered the smuggled cigarettes.
The sources said that the legal documents were not produced by the owner party and being fully satisfied, the customs authorities confiscated 37 cartons of the superior quality of the cigarettes. Official sources said that the total value of the cigarettes is estimated at Rs 1000,000.
The sources said that the operation was conducted on the instructions of Deputy Collector of Customs ASO Asim Awan under the supervision of Superintendent Customs ASO Waqar Ahmad Cheema.
The sources said that the customs authorities registering a case have started further investigation in to the case.
