Customs I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs152.7m from 16th to 25th Dec

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized miscellaneous goods amounting to Rs.152.7 million in different country-wide operations against illegal trade from 16th to 25th December 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs I&I Karachi has recovered 100 kilograms of fine quality heroin worth Rs. 1 billion in international markets, during a biggest sea operation against narcotics smugglers.

Director General has lauded this action and also announced a reward for anti smuggling staff who participated in the operation.

Sources said that Customs teams seized 10 smuggled cars under section 16 and seized 6 offending vehicles under section 157 of Customs Act 1969.

They also recovered smuggled cloth, black tea, Iranian diesel, auto spare parts, tyres and tubes, foreign origin cigarettes, gutka, toiletries, electronics items and 546 liters of mobil oil. Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has lodged 28 FIRs and arrested 14 persons during these operations.
