Sialkot Excise launches crackdown against token tax defaulters

SIALKOT: Punjab Excise and Taxation Department Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal has directed the Sialkot Customs to launch crackdown against vehicle token tax defaulters and fake number plate of vehicles.

District Officer Muhammad Saleem Malik told Customs Today that the officials of the customs department have been formed check points on various important chowks and roads of Sialkot District to impound the token tax defaulters and fake number plate vehicles.

He said that the department has impounded 150 vehicles which were Plying on roads without payment of token tax fee and 3 non-customs paid vehicles rather the department also challaned of 400 vehicles. Saleem added that the department has intimated to Sialkot Customs about non-duty paid vehicles so that it take legal action against these vehicles.

Sources added that the department has removed 415 fancy and fake number plates from various vehicles. He said that the crackdown and general hold up will continue to January 15, 2017 because the department has made a plan to impound all vehicles of token tax fee defaulters and fake number plates.

He said that the Government of Punjab has strictly orders that tighten noose around the vehicle of token tax fee defaulters while must remove fancy and fake number plates from all vehicles. He said that the department will not release any impounded vehicle until the defaulters not pay token tax fee in the account of department. He said that the citizens of Sialkot should help of department to indicate the vehicles which are plying on roads without payment of token tax fee and custom duty so that the department take legal action against these defaulters as per law.
