Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled cigarettes, soap

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Mianwali, has seized foreign origin smuggled cigarettes and soap worth Rs 45,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 1181.

Sources told Customs Today that ASO Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan received credible information about some smuggling attempts.

He immediately constituted a team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muammad Sardar, Inspector Muhammad Mansha, Havaldar Mehmoodul Hassan, and Sepoys Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Feroz and Muhammad Zia ul Hassan. The above said team conducted raid on a godown near police check post Dajil district Bhakkar and found boxes of cigarettes of different brand.

The team asked the owner of the shop to show documents regarding purchase of these goods but he failed to produce any relevant legal documents. After his failure ASO team seized the goods and registered a case against owner of the shop. Later, the seizure report was submitted to the adjudication department for further legal action.
