Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled geared motors

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad seized non-duty paid geared motor. The market value of seized items is Rs five million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs175, 000 and offending Hyundai mini truck Worth Rs one million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Zulfikar Ali Chaudhary received tip-off about transportation of smuggled goods. Perusing information the collector immediately constituted a team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Ali Zahid, Mehmood Ahmed Dogar, Dilawar Hussain, Liaqat Ali, Zulifkar Ali Awan and Muhammad Arshad.

The ASO team started searching vehicles and intercepted a Hyundai mini truck bearing registration No LR-1606 near Gatwala Toll Plaza Sheikupura road Faisalabad and recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid used geared motors (1450 Kilogram).

The smuggled motors were being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad. The team asked the accused who was identified as Liaqat Ali s/o Muhammad Hanif resident of Mansoorabad, Faisalabad to show documents regarding possession and transportation of gear motors but he failed to provide the required legal documents.

The Anti Smuggling Organization after registering a case forwarded it to Customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
