WASHINGTON: Belarus has imposed a ban on poultry imports from Chernivtsi Region today due to the cases of avian influenza recorded within the region. An Ukrinform correspondent reports this citing Director of the Veterinary and Food Control Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Aliaksandr Subotsin. “The ban will come into effect from January 5, but it will be temporary. Now we are revoking all permits previously issued to Bukovyna entrepreneurs,” the report states.

The list of banned products includes live poultry; eggs; wild, zoo and circus animals; poultry meat; egg products; down and feathers. The import deliveries of poultry feed additives and poultry management equipment were also restricted. A reminder that the death of 29 swans from avian influenza was registered at the lake in the village of Chortoryia (Kitsman District, Chernivtsi Region) as of January 5, 2017. On January 4, 2017, the death of 12 chickens was registered in one of private households within the region.
