Hyderabad Customs seizes 5,000 liter HSD

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Field Investigation Unit (FIU) confiscated 5,000 liters Iranian diesel worth Rs 3, 70, 000 along with offending Bedford oil tanker worth Rs 8, 00, 000 in an operation during first week of January 2017.

Director General Shaukat Ali told Customs Today that the Customs Intelligence received credible information regarding the transportation of foreign origin high speed diesel (HSD) in Hyderabad during the above said period.

The director general immediately constituted a team comprising Deputy Superintendent Qasim Ali, Intelligence Officer Irfan Ghani, Sepoys Muhammad Imran, Noshad Khan, Moin Khan, Aslam Chohan and Drivers Rao Abdul Sattar, Janib Crob and Haneef Somroo.

The FIU team started checking the vehicles near Kotri railway station. During checking the FIU team intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration no; AE-0547 and recovered 5,000 liters HSD from it.

The oil tanker was coming from Karachi and heading towards Hyderabad. The Customs FIU team asked driver of the vehicle to show legal documents regarding possession and transportation of HSD but he failed to provide the required documents. After his failure, the FIU team confiscated HSD as for as impounded the tanker.

The FIU team registered a case of smuggling against the accused and forwarded the case to Customs I&P for further proceeding. Director General Shaukat Ali expressed his satisfaction and appreciated the FIU team’s performance.
