MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has seized huge quantity of foreign origin glucose during their action.
According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation authorities received credible information from their informer that truck loaded with huge quantity of non duty paid goods will be transported.
After receiving the tip-off Deputy Director Abdul Mueed Kanjoo formed special team comprising Superintendent Zahid Raza, Inspector Umer, Inspector Malik Muhammad Nasir and others for thwarting any sort of smuggling attempt.
Customs Intelligence deployed their staff in various places to enhance monitoring of goods transported from Multan region to capture smuggled goods.
Customs teams intercepted the truck of which was loaded with various goods for transportation. Field Intelligence Unit of Customs recovered glucose of China origin from the loaded goods during checking of the truck.
The Customs Intelligence Multan took the Chinese origin glucose in their custody and asked the driver to produce the legal documents of the said glucose. The net weight of the foreign origin glucose was almost 55 kilogram and it was packed in the plastic bags which were printed in the Chinese language.
The driver of the truck Khawar is resident of Rawalpindi provided legal documents of the loaded on the demand of Customs Intelligence staff to prove their legal possession of said goods.
The driver provided the details about glucose which was booked by Muhammad Saleem resident of Multan for delivery and destination of the seized goods was also Multan. Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized all glucose worth Rs1 .1 million due to non-payment of customs duty by forming their seizure report. Further investigations are still in progress till the filing of this report.
