Additional Collector Beelam issues ONO against owner of non duty paid vehicle

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) against owner of non duty paid vehicle and directed to impound the same.

According to details the Anti Smuggling Organization team intercepted a foreign origin Toyota Crown car bearing registration number LEF- 13- 9811 .The driver of the vehicle who is identified himself as Muhammad Umer  son of Ghulam Muhammad and second person who is owner of the vehicle is Muhammad  Qamar Ullah Khan son of Sardar Naseer Khan residents of Model Town failed to provide any legal documents to ASO authorities after which they impounded the vehicle and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication.

The examination team of customs along with representative of Faisalabad Dry Port Trust (FDPT) during examination observed that the condition as well good of the vehicle is smuggled one. It was suspected that high tariff good have been replaced with low tariff goods. Therefore, the officials seized the items and registered FIR against the accused company.

It is necessary to mention here after arrival of the said vehicle neither importer nor his authorized person approached for clearance of their consignment.

Superintendent Sardar Mohammad, Inspector Abdul Jabbar, Safdar Ali , Naseer Ahmed, Bashir Hussain, Intelligence Officer  Masood Saeed Chohan and Ali  Zahid appeared before the authority, while no one appeared to defend the case from respondent’s side.

From the case record it is evident that as the result of forensic science laboratory, testing report of the vehicle a foreign origin Toyota Crown car bearing registration no.LEF – 13- 9811 , chassis number frame is found cut and welded means original chassis number has been cut away and a bogus chassis number is not original frame .

So as no one appeared to defend the case from respondent side nor any Written reply has been received from the respondent side . The inspector appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the seized vehicle fall under the ambit of section 2 (S) of the custom act 1969.

Therefore, Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan ordered to seize the goods under clause 14 of Section 156 (1), 157(1) and (2) of the Customs Act, 1969.
