Customs Appellate Tribunal hears tax matter filed by M/s Warid Telecom

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Customs Appellate Tribunal dated in office the hearing of a customs reference on Wednesday wherein M/s Warid Telecom (Private) Limited had challenged an announcement made by the Model Customs Collectorate, Islamabad.

Members Tribunal, Syed Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Nasir Khan heard the matter and dated in office after submission of detailed records of the customs case by the departmental lawyer.

During the previous hearings, the bench had directed the respondent’s counsels to submit detailed record before the court.

M/s Warid Telecom had filed the case in 2016 against Model Coollectorate of Customs, Islamabad. Through the petition, the company had challenged a decision announced by department’s adjudication for sustaining claims of recoverable customs duty of around Rs 40 million.

The tribunal had held hearing of the matter in the recent weeks and had adjourned for further arguments. The bench had asked the counsels involved ensure their presence before the bench on next date of hearing. M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited’s plea 144/CU/IB/2016 was filed in the recent month. According to the tribunal’s officials, the case involved a huge amount under the head of taxes.
