ZURICH: Swiss ICT federation Swico has plans to increase its presence in the western, French-speaking part of Switzerland.

According to details, Swico announced board member Jean-Jacques Suter would act as a representative for Swiss Romande. Suter is currently a business and strategy consultant. Up until December, he was the CEO of ERP provider Sage Switzerland and has previously held management positions with Dell, HP, Compaq and Logitech.

As a start to their campaign in French Switzerland, Swico will hold a series of breakfast roadshows in major cities. In addition, the organisation plans to set up an interest group focused on the concerns of western Swiss ICT providers.

Overall, Swico identified that the Swiss ICT market had faced a ‘difficult environment’ in 2016, with an increase in revenue of 0.2 percent.

A major political issue Swico identified in the coming year is the proposed introduction of network barriers, which Swico strongly opposes. Swico also signalled an intention to contribute to the debate on the Data Protection Act and an upcoming consultation on public procurement.
