Secretary Khalid vows to issue 500,000 number plates per month

MULTAN: The Excise and Taxation Department will issue 500,000 number plates to the vehicles every month, said Punjab Excise and Taxation Secretary Khalid Masood.

Masood was presiding over a conference of the department.

The Punjab government has increased property tax 50 percent this year and citizens have been categorised as A, B, C according to their tax ratio.

He said that Rs 66 million taxes have been collected by the Excise Department from Dera Ghazi Khan Division during first quarter of the current fiscal year, which is 53 percent recovery while the target was 47%.

He said, “Our revenue is increasing from Dera Ghazi Khan. Last year they had collected Rs 34 million in the first quarter of fiscal year 2013-14.”

Masood said the department would take action against unregistered vehicles without any discrimination.

The excise secretary said land revenue record would be computerised soon.

He announced cash prizes and awards for officials who showed exemplary performance.
