Acting chairman FBR to hold meeting with top customs officers on Monday

KARACHI: The Acting Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue-FBR Dr Muhammad Irshad has called on a meeting of Chief Collector Appraisement-South Abdul Rashid Shaikh and Chief Collector-Enforcement-South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar at FBR Headquarters.

The sources informed Customs Today that the acting FBR chairman is going to hold a meeting with the top officers of Pakistan Customs on Monday.

The sources informed this scribe that the agenda of meeting is to review the revenue generation and anti-smuggling actions taken by the customs authorities during the first two quarters of the Fiscal Year2016-17.

Responding to a query, the sources informed that the chairman FBR on the directives of finance and interior ministries has called on the meeting with the top-notch of the department.

Replying to another query, the sources further said that the effective strategy in order to generate revenue and curbing smuggling activities would be evolved during the meeting, which is to be scheduled on 23rd January.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has already directed to keep vigil eye over the tax evasion adding that the government has also decided to setup a separate department in this regard.
