MULTAN: Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) Chief Executive Muzafar Ali Abbasi said he gives priority to upgrading of industrial power station and uninterrupted power supply.
He said this at the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The business community said low voltage and tripping of electricity damages their capacity of production and machinery.
To overbilling complaints, Muzafar assured that next month electricity bills would be printed along with the metre reading pictures.
MEPCO has provided cameras to 40 divisions to curb overbilling and in the future no one would face this issue, he said.
Muzafar said construction of two transformer workshops is underway in Bahawalpur and Vehari, adding that they would repair more than 2,600 transformers.
New 1800 transformers are added into the system to upgrade both industrial and domestic power stations, he said.
There would be separate transmission lines for the industrial zone.
The MEPCO chief said that electricity consumers were paying 26 percent of their taxes in terms of surcharge and duties. He said that tax implementation was the privilege of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority and MEPCO could do nothing in this regard.
He said that there would be uninterrupted electricity would be supplied to industrial consumers this summer. He added that tripping issue would prevail due to upgrading of the power stations. Separate electric feeders have been installed for the industrial zone and they would become operational this summer, he concluded.
