WELLINGTON: New Zealand’s tax agency has chosen two private sector partners to build the systems required to modernize tax administration as part of its 10-year plan. Inland Revenue has signed a NZD25m (USD17.8m) deal with New Zealand company TEAM Asparona, a partnership between TEAM Informatics and DeloitteAsparona, to develop all required software, hardware, and services.

In June 2016 the Inland Revenue was allocated NZD857m to transform how taxes are administered. “Our transformation is all about being focussed on the customer and being smarter in the way we use information,” said Deputy Commissioner Transformation Greg James. “We’re confident that TEAM Asparona will design a solution that meets our objectives and has the flow on effect of simplifying tax for customers.” The Inland Revenue said that the new system will significantly improve the quality, accuracy, and consistency of information and speed up its response times.
