KARACHI: The investigation team of Inland Revenue South Region of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) raided a private hospital, located in Clifton area over non-payment of legitimate taxes, it is learnt here.
According to details, a team of Inland Revenue Services (IRS) led by Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rauf and assistant commissioner raided a private hospital and seized all its record and office equipment including computers and laptops.
The Deputy Commissioner IRS FBR Abdul Rauf while talking to Customs Today exclusively informed that the IRS South Region has served several recovery notices on the management of the private hospital for last one year or so, but the management of the hospital did not respond.
The deputy commissioner-IRS FBR informed this scribe that the hospital management has not yet paid its legitimate taxes worth Rs300 million for last 18 months and also did not submit the audit report for last fiscal year 2015-16 despite several intimations.
“We have sealed the hospital and further investigation of the hospital record would be carried out with the directives of the senior authorities”, deputy commissioner added.
He further informed that the IRS department has compiled a detailed list in this regard by following the directives of the seniors and appropriate actions against the tax defaulters would be taken accordingly.
It may be mentioned here that the FBR chairman and Member-IRS have already issued clear directives to take immediate action against the tax defaulters as per law.
