Sialkot Customs seizes Indian cloths valued Rs150000

SIALKOT: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Sialkot, has confiscated Indian origin smuggled cloths worth Rs150000 during vehicles’ checking at Sambrial under the Kashmir Transit Trade the other day.

Under the direction of Assistant Collector and ASO Incharge Ali Mohatshim Mihas, Superintendent ASO Sardar Manzoor constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Maqbool Arshad to check vehicles on Smabrial Road. Inspector intercepted a vehicle with registration No: MR-2132 (AJK) which was going from Mirpur (AJK) to Sialkot.

The team recovered packets of Indian smuggled cloths worth Rs150000 from the secret cavities of vehicle. The team asked Driver Rehmat about customs paid duty documents but he failed to produce them. The driver told team that cloths were loaded from van stand of Mirpur (AJK) and he does not know about documents, rather the Van Stand Manager is responsible for loading and unloading of any luggage.

The team confiscated cloths while the driver was released after proper interrogation. However the team has registered a case against driver under Section 157/58. The team will also issue a legal notice to Van Stand Manager for legal proceeding against him.
