Customs Export issues show-cause notice, receives evaded tax amount

KARACHI: The Model Customs Export issued a show-cause notice to a company, M/s Areeba Garments involved in tax evasion and ordered it to pay the dues. In another case, the department received evaded tax amount from two companies.

According to details, a show-cause notice was issued to M/s Areeba Garments, located at Dalmia for the recovery of evaded tax amount. The company evaded tax money Rs 98,000 by using wrong PCT Heading to get clearance of a consignment in December 2016.

During the scrutiny of clearance documents, the customs authorities found that the company evaded Rs 98,000 duty and taxes in the above said consignment.

After finding the fraud in duty payment, the customs authorities issued a show-cause notice to the company and ordered to submit the payable amount within a week.

Whereas, the customs authorities recovered evaded tax amount of Rs 156,000 from M/s Rashid Enterprises and Rs 123,000 from M/s Unique Food Flavors. The said companies evaded tax in different consignments during last year. Both companies were ordered by the customs export through a notice to submit the evaded amount. Both companies submitted their payable amount within given time period.
