Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Three ships C.V Maersk Semarang, C.V Suez Canal and M.T Shalamar carrying containers and furnace oil took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

Meanwhile three more ships Priority, Frauke and White Purl with Containers, General Cargo LPG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim (PQ) during last 24 hours. Sixty percent berth occupancy was maintained at the port on Wednesday where a total of nine ships namely Maersk Semarang, Suez Canal, CMA CGM Amazon, Dan Kang, Ocean Vander, Golden Trader, Bunga Akasia, IGLC Anka and Sea Dance are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Coal, Soya Bean, LPG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the port where a cargo volume of 133,733 tonnes, comprising 118,801 tonnes import cargo and 14,972 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,426 containers TEUs) 2,638 imports TUEs & 788 TUEs exports) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

LPG carrier IGLC Anka sailed out to sea Thursday morning, while four more ships CMA CGM Amazon, Ocean Vander, Sea Dance and Bunga Akasia are expected to sail on same afternoon. Four ships C.V Priority, M.V Frauke, M.T Globe Tanya and M.T Shalamar carrying Containers, Project Cargo, LPG and Furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-2, SSGC and FOTCO respectively on Thursday, while General Cargo carrier Aal Bangkok is due to arrive at PQ on same day and two more Container ships Hansa America and San Felipe are due to arrive on Friday.
